Sales of home appliances to rural areas in China (Not including sales in provinces of Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, and Qingdao City) reached 5.179 million units in January 2012, hitting 13.74 billion Yuan.
Due to sales promotion by enterprises of home appliances in January-March following the adjustments of identity cards policy in 2011, as well as the early date of Spring Festival of 2012, both sales volume and sales value of home appliances to rural areas saw a decline in January, down by 32.5% and 25.7% respectively. A total of 220 million units of home appliances were sold to rural areas by the end of January 2012, with sales values hitting 519.66 billion Yuan, and total subsidy of 60.59 billion Yuan.
By province, the top three in sales value were Hebei, Anhui and Jiangsu, accounting for 33.2% of the total in the country. By commodity, sales of color TV sets and refrigerators exceeded 8.3 billion Yuan, accounting for 60% of the total sales. By enterprise, major enterprises of home appliances including Haier, Hisense and Midea saw a sales decline of over 30% due to expiration of policies promoting sales of home appliances to rural areas in Shandong, Henan, Sichuan and Qingdao.
