BEIJING -- Changan Ford, a joint venture between Ford Motors and China's Changan Automobiles, will recall 172,864 vehicles starting from June 22 over steering problems, said China's top quality supervisor on Thursday.
The affected model is the Ford New Mondeo, manufactured between Jan. 4, 2013, and March 25, 2015, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
In high-corrosive environments the bolts that hold the steering gear motor can corrode and fracture. If this happens, the steering might fail.
Dealers will replace the bolts and seal them free of charge.
