閘閥是一種最常見的啟閉閥，利用閘板（即啟閉件，在閘板中啟閉件稱為(wei) 閘板或閘門，閘座稱為(wei) 閘板座）來接通（全開）或截斷（全關(guan) ）管路中的介質。它不允許作為(wei) 截流用，使用中應避免將閘板微量開啟，因高速流動的介質的衝(chong) 蝕會(hui) 加速密封麵的損壞。雙德閘板在垂直於(yu) 閘門座通道中心線的片麵作為(wei) 升降運動，象閘門一樣截斷管路中的介質，故稱做閘閥。
閘閥是指關(guan) 閉件（閘板）沿通路中心線的垂直方向移動的閥門。閘閥在管路中主要作切斷用。是使用很廣的一種閥門，一般口徑DN≥50mm的切斷裝置都選用它，有時口徑很小的切斷裝置也選用閘閥。閘閥作為(wei) 一種級別較低的閥門，比較常見。
